John R. Cash was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Much of Cash's music contained themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption, especially in the later stages of his career.

He was the first American to hear the news of Stalin's death. Before becoming a famous musician Johnny Cash was a military code breaker and he copied the first news of Stalin's death.

Cash was no stranger to the inside of a prison. In fact, he was arrested seven times for a variety of reasons, some from drug-related charges. Despite being arrested seven times, Cash only ever spent one night in jail.

His Vocal Coach advised him to quit, worried that any further formal training would alter Cash’s unique way of singing.

An ostrich broke five of his rocks. the ostrich was particularly cranky one day and came charging at him. He tried to fight it off, but it ended up kicking him in the stomach, breaking two of his ribs and cutting open his skin. Cash then broke three more ribs when the ostrich knocked him on to a rock.

He recorded 60 songs in the last four months of his life. The final song he ever recorded was called “Engine 143,” which he recorded for a Carter Family tribute album for his son, John Carter Cash.

Johnny once made a deal with Roy Orbison that they would both grow ponytails. Johnny chickened out, and Roy passed away a few months later. When Johnny walked up to Roy’s casket, he laughed when he saw Roy had grew that ponytail.
