15 Interesting Facts You Probably Don't know about John Lennon

John Winston Ono Lennon was born in Liverpool on October 9, 1940, and years later went on to become one of the world’s most iconic musicians.He was the co-founder of one of the most popular bands in the world, the Beatles. But the Beatles wasn't his first band, before that he was in a band called the Quarrymen. 




So here is a list of 15 Interesting Facts you Probably don't know about John Lennon. 

1. Banjo was the first instrument Lennon learnt to play. His mother, Julia Lennon taught him how to play it. 



2. He was a Terrible driver. He even was the last Beatle to learn how to drive. He finally gave up driving after he met an accident in 1969 on a trip to Scotland with his wife, Yoko Ono; his son, Julian; and Kyoko, Ono's daughter. John got 17 stitches on his face. 



3. Before fame, Lennon expressed that he’d rather commit suicide than get a conventional job.



4. When John's second wife, Yoko Ono met him for the first time, she didn't know that he was a Beatle. 



5. John Lennon saw Paul McCartney for the last time on April 24, 1976, four years before his death. 



6. John Lennon had a deep and abiding love of cats. As a child, Lennon had a cat named Elvis, which was named after Elvis Presley, but discovered that Elvis was a female when she gave birth to a litter of kittens. Still, the name stuck. 



7. He was the first Beatle to get married. He married Cynthia Powell on August 23,1962. Beatles manager Brian Epstein worked to keep John’s marriage a secret, but his efforts were futile. 



8. John later became a cooking enthusiast and often made lunches for his entire staff. 



9. As a child, Lennon preferred receiving Paint boxes, pencil and paper than toys. 




10. He kept a light on while he slept, as he hated the dark.



11. In 1965 a reporter referred Lennon as the "Fat Beatle". After that he ate very little. 



12. Lennon drank 20-30 cups of tea or coffee daily.



13. John Lennon hated his own voice. He would often ask the band's producer, George Martin, to cover the sound of his voice: "Can't you smother it with tomato ketchup or something?"



14. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon revealed that Songwriting was a torture for him. 



15. He wanted Jesus Christ and Adolf Hitler on the the cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, but was out-voted.

    1. According to Cynthia Lennon, he slapped her once, when he was drunk, and spent the rest of his life apologizing for it. His story is about an orphan who out grew his demons. What's your story, hateful poster?
