Kurt Donald Cobain was an American singer, songwriter, artist and musician. He was the frontman of the rock band Nirvana, serving as the band's guitarist, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter. Even after 27 years of his death, Cobain is one of the most popular rock stars.

1. First Job - Janitor


His First job was a Janitor. After dropping out from High School, he got the job and of the Janitor in the same school. 

2. Recorded Nevermind while he was homeless


Being homeless, Cobain used to either sleep in his car or crash at his mother’s place. Even in that state, Cobain successfully recorded the song ‘Nevermind’ which went on to sell two million copies.

3. He wanted to name Nirvana's last album "I Hate Myself And Want To Die"


He wanted to name the Final album of Nirvana "I Hate Myself And Want To Die". It was the band's bassist Krist Novoselic who convinced him that it's not a good idea. 

4. He mentioned his imaginary Friend in his suicide note


Kurt Cobain addressed his suicide note to his imaginary Friend " Boddah". According to Cobain "Boddah" was the evil side of his personality and it was responsible for every of his wrongdoings. 

5. Predicted his Future at the age of 14


At the age of 14, Kurt Cobain confessed to his schoolmate that he planned on becoming a rockstar, getting super-rich and famous, and ultimately retiring in glory by killing himself. 

6. Worked as a Swimming instructor


Kurt Cobain also worked as a swimming instructor for pre-school kids at the YMCA in Aberdeen. 

7. Smells like teen Spirit is named after a body deodrant 


One night, Kurt got into an argument with Kathleen Hanna (from Bikini Kill). When he woke up the next morning, he found that Tobi had written "Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" on the wall of his hotel room. Tobi was actually referring to the deodorant brand that she wore (Teen Spirit). Unaware of the deodorant, Kurt loved the term so much that he decided to name his Pixies-influenced song, Smells Like Teen Spirit, after the phrase.

8. Used Heroin on a daily basis to relieve Stomach pains


Cobain started using heroin on a daily basis to relieve his chronic stomach pains. In his suicide note he mentioned his stomach problems : "Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years." And at one point he claimed to spend $100 per day on heroin. 

9. Auditioned for Melvins


Before Nirvana, Kurt had auditioned to be in the Melvins, but was rejected.

10. First Time on TV


The first time Cobain saw himself on television was on September 28, 1991, for a taping of MTV’s 120 Minutes.
