George Harrison was an English musician, singer-songwriter, and music and film producer who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles

1. George Harrison left school at 16 and worked for several months as an apprentice electrician at Blacklers, a local department store. 



2. He was known as the quiet Beatle but his friend Tom Petty said "He never shut up,". "He was the best hang you could imagine"


3. He was the first Beatle to visit and play in America. During his 18-day stay, Harrison also became the first Beatle to play in the U.S.—appearing on stage with The Four Vests at the VFW Hall in Eldorado.



4. He was the first Beatle to meet a U.S. President - Gerald Ford, in 1974.



5. He got into a fight with John Lennon's wife over a biscuit. That's right, a biscuit. Things were already tense among the Beatles' inner circle in the late 60′s while recording at Abbey Road studios. Yoko Ono's presence in the group didn't help. While making “Abbey Road”, Ono pinched a biscuit from a packet Harrison left on his amplifier. The last biscuit!



6. On the bus to school Harrison met Paul McCartney, and the pair bonded over their shared love of music. 



7. At the age of 15, George auditioned for John and Paul’s skiffle band, The Quarrymen. John thought George too young (John was 18), and rejected him. But Paul liked George and, not long after the audition, had him (George) play the well-known guitar instrumental,”Raunchy,” for John on the upper deck of a London bus. John was impressed and thus he became a member of the Quarrymen. 



8. He was only 27 when the Beatles broke up. 



9. An intruder attacked him in his home in 1999 and stabbed him multiple times, but he survived.



10. George Harrison embraced Indian mysticism and helped broaden the horizons of his fellow Beatles as well as their Western audience by incorporating Indian instrumentation in their music.
