Elvis Aaron Presley is one of the most famous entertainers of all time. Dubbed as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis is a true American icon. 




Here is a list of 15 Interesting Things you Probably don't know about 'the King' Elvis Presley. 

1. Natural blonde

Elvis Presley was a natural Blonde until his late teens and even after when his hair began to go darker it wasn’t naturally the shade.  It was usually dyed a shade of brown known as ‘Mink Brown’, but once when the King himself tried to do it, he opted to use black shoe polish. 

2. He Had a Twin


He had Twin. He was delivered 35 minutes before Elvis, Stillborn. 

3. Got a C in Music Class


Elvis was an average music Student. He got a C in his 8th Grade Music class. 

4. Was a Karate Black Belt



Elvis was a fan of karate, particularly the fighting style known as Chito-Ryu, even earning his black belt in 1960.

5. Distant Relative of Abraham Lincoln and Jimmy Carter


Elvis Presley was related to 2 of the former USA Presidents, Abraham Lincoln and Jimmy Carter. 

6. Never Performed outside North America


Despite being so Popular globally, he never actually performed outside North America, infact all of his gigs were in the USA and only a few in Canada. 

7. Served in Military at the height of his Career


He served two years in the military at the height of his fame. During the Cold War, the USA instituted a peacetime draft to keep their numbers up in the face of the Soviet threat. When Elvis’ number was called, despite being one of the most famous people in the world, he reported for duty.

8. Was bullied at School


Elvis said that he was bullied at times when growing up, recalling stories of his peers at school throwing rotten fruit at him or cutting his guitar strings.

9. Hated Fish


Elvis hated the smell of fish so much that it was banned in Graceland. 

10. Corpse was almost Stolen


Elvis was originally buried next to his departed mother at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, however, his remains were moved to a private location in Graceland after there was an attempt to steal his coffin and corpse. 

11. Graceland is the second most visited house in the United States


His House Graceland is the second most Visited in the US. The only house which is ahead of it is the White House. 

12. Got his First Guitar because his Parents couldn't afford a rifle or bicycle


 Elvis either wanted a rifle or a bicycle for his 11th birthday, but his parents couldn’t afford either and gave him a guitar instead. 

13. Elvis Helped Eradicate Polio

The cure for Polio was invented in 1955. Even after a few years of it's discovery, it was difficult to convince teenagers to take the vaccine. They needed someone, very popular, who would love to take it, and do it in a very public way. Elvis came Forward and posed for the press and got a polio vaccine from doctors. Incidents of the of disease went down 90% between 1950 and 1960. 

14. Elvis once tipped his limo driver in Miami with the actual limousine


Presley asked the driver whether he owned the limo they were in or if he worked for a company. The driver explained that it was owned by the company he worked for, which apparently didn’t sit too well with the King. As he made his way out of the limo, Presley responded, “you own it now.” 

15. Huge Germaphobe


Priscilla Presley, let it slip that her husband was a huge germaphobe, only drinking his coffee near the handle because he thought fewer lips would have touched it there.

  2. I didn't know about tipping the limo to the driver, and only recentlty learned of his phobia of germs. The others I knew.
