10 Interesting Facts you Probably don't know about Beethoven

Ludwig Van Beethoven is one of the greatest composer who ever lived. He remains one of the most admired composers in the history of Western music; his works rank amongst the most performed of the classical music repertoire and span the transition from the Classical period to the Romantic era in classical music. 



So here is a list of 10 Interesting Facts you Probably don't know about Ludwig Beethoven. 

1. Beethoven started supporting his family at a very young age. When he was 13, his father lost his job at the court. His family had no source of income and since Beethoven was the eldest of his siblings, he went to the court and got the job of assistant court organist. 



2. He hated giving Piano lessons. The only exceptions were extremely talented students. 



3. His father was an alcoholic and he physically abused Beethoven for playing wrong notes. He forced his son to practice day and night to become a genius. 



4. He started losing his hearing from around 1801, and was completely deaf by the year 1819. However, the loss of hearing did not stop him from composing some of the most renowned works during this period. 



5. Beethoven learned about his age too late. His father had reduced his age by two years, so he could appear younger. Beethoven learnt this fact later. 



6. His First public concert was at the age of 8. The show was arranged by his father to show off Beethoven's exceptional musical talent. He promoted the concert with the tagline, little son of six years old. 



7. He did not performer well in his school. He could not read well, had difficulty in pronouncing words and he was very bad in maths. Then at the age of 10 he dropped out of school. 



8. He was the first musician to receive a salary with no duties other than to compose how and when he felt inclined. 



9. He never married or had children. 



10. Beethoven passed away on March 26, 1827, at the age of 56. An autopsy revealed that the immediate cause of death was post-hepatitic cirrhosis of the liver.
